The central government told Parliament on Thursday that Pakistani drug importers are withholding payment of $430,000 to Indian exporters for pharmaceutical products exported to Pakistan from April-December 2021. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply, “As per available records, India has exported pharmaceutical products worth $203.68 million to Pakistan from April 2021 to December 2021. Dues to Indian exporters of pharmaceutical products by Pakistani importers have not been paid. A few instances of fraud have been brought to our notice. Data available, the total amount owed to Indian exporters is approximately $430,000.”
BJP member Subramanian Swamy in response to a query whether some pharmaceutical companies and suppliers have supplied medicine to Pakistan and if they have not been paid for the goods exported to Pakistan, he said in Islamabad by India’s The matter of dues has been taken up with the concerned authorities in Pakistan through the High Commission. But the Pakistani side has not yet responded on this issue.
