Dera Ismail Khan: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had vowed to ‘eradicate terrorism’ from his country. Now the effect of Shahbaz’s vow is also visible. Pakistani security forces have killed 11 terrorists by raiding a terrorist hideout in an area considered to be the stronghold of Taliban in the troubled north-west region. Officials have given information about the action taken by Pakistani security forces.
Pakistani army had received intelligence information
The Pakistan army said in a statement that the raid, based on intelligence, was carried out in response to a roadside bomb blast on Sunday that killed seven Pakistan army soldiers in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan. The army said in the statement that the operation is still underway to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area and the security forces are fully determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism in Pakistan.
Shahbaz Sharif’s tough stand
Seven soldiers including a captain were killed in a terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. On Sunday, terrorists attacked a convoy of security personnel going towards Sarband Post, Kachhi Kamar in Lakki Marwat district. After the terrorist attack, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “I am deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Pakistani army soldiers including a captain in the terrorist attack in Lakki Marwat district.” He said, “The sacrifice of our brave soldiers and civilians is a debt on us which we have to repay by eliminating terrorism from our country.”
No one took responsibility for the attack
No one has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack, although the Pakistani Taliban, known as the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, is believed to be responsible for it. The TTP is an affiliate of the Afghan Taliban. Pakistani officials often accuse Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers of harboring TTP fighters, a charge Kabul repeatedly denies. (AP)
