The 42-year-old Vinod, a former Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, broke the Asian record with a throw of 19.91m to finish third and won the bronze medal for the country. Vinod threw 19.91m in his fifth attempt.
At one point Vinod was running second but Croatia’s Velimir Sandur threw him 19.98m to slip him to third place. The gold of the event was won by Poland’s Piotr Kosewicz with a throw of 20.02m.
