Bhubaneswar. Severe heat continues in many states from UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal to Odisha. In the month of April itself, the situation is such that in many states the temperature has crossed 45 degrees Celsius. Due to the heat waves here, people are finding it difficult to leave their homes. It has become very difficult for children to go to school in this scorching heat. Keeping this in view, the Odisha government has announced summer holidays in all schools in the state from April 25.
The Odisha government said in a release that all schools, including government, government-aided and private, will remain closed from April 25. Along with this, the government has also announced to change the school timings and run classes from 6:30 am to 10:30 am from 22nd to 24th April.

Earlier, due to the extreme heat conditions in the state, all schools in the state were ordered to be closed for three days from April 18 to 20. This decision was taken in view of the temperature rising above 45 degrees Celsius in the state.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that heat wave will continue in Odisha. According to the department, in some parts of the state the maximum temperature was recorded more than 43 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius was recorded near 2:30 pm on Sunday in Jharsuguda and Keonjhar cities of the state. At six other places the maximum temperature has been recorded above 40 degrees Celsius.
This is the second wave of heatwave this month. In the first phase also, there was extreme heat in some parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The Meteorological Department had already warned of extremely intense heat between April and June amid weakening El Nino conditions.
