Kolkata. In view of the extreme heat conditions in the state, the West Bengal government on Thursday announced summer vacation in government and government-aided schools from April 22. In the notification issued by the School Education Department on Thursday, it has been said that apart from the students, teachers and non-teaching staff will also be on leave during this period, but in view of the Lok Sabha elections, the instructions of the concerned election officers will also be applicable to them.
In the notice issued by the Secretary of School Education to the chairpersons of the Boards of Primary Education and Secondary, it is said that ‘Considering the current situation of extreme heat, the administration has announced the summer vacation in the schools falling under your administrative jurisdiction on 22 May before the scheduled time. It has been decided to do it from April. Schools in hilly Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts will be an exception to this and the present academic program there should be continued till further orders.
Along with studies, children will also learn skills development, this way they will get employment.
Currently, Lok Sabha elections are going on in the state and many schools in North Bengal have been converted into security forces camps and polling stations, hence the first summer vacation was scheduled from May 6. Education Minister Bratya Basu said that private schools are also being requested to advance summer vacations in the interest of students.
