Survey of Villages and Mapping with Rural Areas Improvement Technology under Swamitva Scheme is a new Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of India. The SVAMITVA scheme, launched on National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24, 2021, aims to provide an essential solution for property verification in rural India primarily by demarcating residential areas in rural areas using advanced drone technology.
What is Swamitva Yojana?
– Swamitva Yojana (Survey of villages and mapping with improved technology in rural areas) is a scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
– This central scheme aims to provide integrated, comprehensive and appropriate asset verification solutions to rural India.
– The legal owners have to provide ‘Record of Rights’ along with the legal property card/title deed.
Purpose of ownership plan
– To provide an advanced innovative and integrated solution for asset verification in rural India.
– Making accurate land records for planning in rural areas.
– Reducing property related disputes.
– Bringing financial freedom and stability to rural India by allowing people to use their assets to avail financial benefits including loans.
– To create survey infrastructure and GIS maps and land records to be used by any department, if necessary.
– Determining property tax on the basis of maps and land record documents.
– To assist in preparing a better quality Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) using land records and GIS based maps.
