New Delhi . Government oil marketing companies on Saturday again increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased 10 times in the last 12 days.
Petrol in the national capital Delhi has become costlier by Rs 7.2 per liter since March 22. After a gap of more than four months, oil marketing companies have started increasing the prices of petrol and diesel.
Petrol and diesel became costlier by 80 paise per liter in Delhi on Saturday. The price of petrol has now gone up to Rs 102.61 per liter and that of diesel to Rs 93.87 per liter here.
In Mumbai, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs 117.57 per liter and that of diesel to Rs 101.79 per liter.
In Kolkata, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs 122.19 per liter and that of diesel to Rs 97.02 per liter.
In Chennai, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs 108.21 per liter and that of diesel to Rs 98.26 per liter.
Due to the supply crisis, the price of crude oil has increased significantly in the international market, due to which it is believed to have an impact on the domestic market as well.
In November 2021, the central government had cut the excise duty to levy on the price of petrol and diesel, after which their prices were stable.
However, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine changed the situation and led to a stormy rise in crude oil prices. India is a major importer of crude oil and thus the turmoil in the global market has a significant impact on the domestic market.
