new Delhi. State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Saturday hiked the prices of petrol and diesel for the fourth time this week. These prices were changed for the first time after a gap of more than four months on Tuesday, March 22.
In New Delhi, the price of petrol and diesel was once again increased by 80 paise per liter.
As per the pump prices, petrol now costs Rs 98.61 per liter and diesel Rs 89.87 per liter in the national capital.
On Friday, the price of petrol in Delhi was Rs 97.81 per liter and diesel at Rs 89.07 per liter.
Petrol and diesel prices were increased from Rs 113.35 per liter to Rs 97.55 per liter in the financial capital Mumbai.
Moreover, the prices of both the transport fuels have increased in Kolkata as well. The price of petrol increased to Rs 108.01 and that of diesel to Rs 93.01 per litre.
In Chennai too, the price of petrol is now Rs 104.43 and diesel is Rs 94.47 per litre.
Fuel prices remained stable from November 2021 till Tuesday, when the Center reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per liter respectively.
OMCs have modified the transportation fuel cost based on various factors such as Rupee to US Dollar exchange rate, cost of crude oil and fuel demand among others.
