Mysuru. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Congress, calling it ‘Sultan of Tukde-Tukde Gang’. He accused the main opposition party of having dangerous intentions to ‘divide, divide and weaken’ the country. PM Modi attacked the ruling Congress in Karnataka, alleging, “The government treasury is empty due to looting, developmental and welfare schemes are being stopped.”
He said, “Hundreds of crores of black money is being sent across the country from Karnataka to help Congress contest elections. This is the governance model of Congress.” PM Modi was addressing an election meeting at Maharaja College grounds in Mysuru. This election meeting was organized to garner support in favor of BJP and Janata Dal Secular candidates from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Hassan Lok Sabha constituencies.
PM Modi said, “This (India) is a land where mothers dream of sending their children to the armed forces to serve the country. On the other hand, there is a Congress party which is becoming the ‘Sultan of Tukde Tukde Gang’.” He claimed, “The dangerous intention of Congress to divide, break and weaken the country is still the same.”
During this show of strength by the Nationalist Democratic Alliance (NDA), apart from Prime Minister Modi, JD(S) patron and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda also shared the stage. There are 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, out of which BJP is contesting on 25, while JD(S), which joined the NDA in September last year, is contesting on three seats including Mandya.
PM Modi said, “In Karnataka, the NDA has the guidance of senior leaders like HD Deve Gowda and (BJP leader BS) Yediyurappa and the support of JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy.” He claimed that Congress has crossed ‘all limits of hatred for the country’.
The Prime Minister said, ‘The people of Karnataka are witness to the fact that Congress gives election tickets as a reward to those who speak against India. Recently you must have seen that in the election rally of Congress, a person made people raise the slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, but before doing so, he had to take permission from the leaders sitting on the stage.
He questioned whether one needs permission to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’? Questioning the public, PM Modi said, “Will the country, Karnataka, Mysuru forgive such a Congress? First they opposed ‘Vande Mataram’ and now they shy away from saying ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. This is the pinnacle of the downfall of Congress.”
The BJP has named Yaduveer Krishnadutt Chamaraja Wadiyar, a scion of the former royal family here, as its candidate from Mysuru, while Deve Gowda’s son and former chief minister Kumaraswamy is the ally JD(S) candidate from Mandya. Karnataka is very important for the BJP because it is the only state in South India where the party has been in power. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had won 25 out of 28 seats, while an independent supported by the party also won.
Accusing the Congress of playing with fire for power, the Prime Minister said that at a time when India’s respect is increasing in the world, Congress leaders are leaving no opportunity to go abroad and present a bad image of India. He alleged, “The country gives a befitting reply to its enemies, but the Congress demands proof of ‘surgical strike’ from the Army. “Congress is working with the political wing of a banned organization which is involved in terrorist activities.”
The Prime Minister claimed that an ‘open game’ of appeasement is going on in the country. He alleged that efforts are being made to ban fairs and festivals. PM Modi asked, “Will you hand over the administration of the country to those playing the game of vote bank politics?” He slammed the Congress and the ‘India’ alliance for ‘boycotting’ the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and said it ‘insulted our faith’.
The Prime Minister alleged that the people of the ‘India’ alliance want to ‘destroy Sanatan’ and ‘destroy the power of Hindu religion’.” He said that ‘as long as Modi is there and he has your blessings, these forces of hatred will never succeed.’
Voting will be held in two phases for 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. In the first phase, voting on 14 Lok Sabha seats will be held on April 26, while voting on the remaining 14 seats will be held on May 7. PM Modi said that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will decide the future of ‘developed India’ for 2047. He claimed that he is devoting every minute of his time for the progress of the country.
PM Modi alleged that Congress never gave account of its 60 years of rule as it only knows how to create problems and deceive. He also alleged that Karnataka has become an ‘ATM state’ for the ruling Congress to loot. Referring to the guarantees mentioned in the BJP manifesto, PM Modi described it as a picture of ‘New India’.
