Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid the foundation stone of ‘Bharat Mart’ on Wednesday. This will be a platform that will provide the Indian MSME sector (micro, small and medium-sized companies) access to international buyers. According to language news, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that Modi and Maktoum participated online in the program related to the foundation stone laying ceremony of ‘Bharat Mart’ to be built in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone.

According to the news, Bharat Mart will be constructed by DP World. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that this Mart will provide an effective platform for India’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to reach out to international buyers in the Gulf, West Asia, Africa and Eurasia regions. It will also play an important role in promoting their exports. The statement said the two leaders expressed confidence that ‘Bharat Mart’ will further enhance India-UAE bilateral trade by taking advantage of Jebel Ali Port’s strategic location and its strength in logistics. Earlier, Modi addressed the World Government Summit and also held some bilateral meetings.

According to the report, the area of the mart is expected to be more than 100,000 square meters. It will serve as a versatile multipurpose facility hosting warehouse, retail and hospitality facilities. Bharat Mart will have retail showrooms, offices, warehouses and support facilities to cater to various categories of goods ranging from heavy machinery to perishable goods. There are also plans to develop a digital platform that will enable global buyers to easily source goods from the facility.
