Thimphu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his two-day meaningful state visit to Bhutan on Saturday. During this, he assured Thimphu of India’s full cooperation in development works and pledged to provide assistance worth Rs 10,000 crore in the next five years. On Saturday morning, Modi along with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay inaugurated a modern hospital for women and children built with India’s cooperation in Thimphu. Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck along with Prime Minister Tobgay came to see off Prime Minister Modi at Paro International Airport.
“I am honored to have His Majesty the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at the airport to see me off as I depart for Delhi,” Modi said in a post on X. ‘It was a very special trip to Bhutan. I had the opportunity to meet the King of Bhutan, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and other dignitaries of Bhutan. Our talks will further strengthen India-Bhutan friendship. I am grateful for honoring me with the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’. I am grateful to the wonderful people of Bhutan for their warmth and hospitality.

India will always be a trusted friend and partner to Bhutan.” The Bhutanese Prime Minister posted on ‘X’, ”Many thanks to my brother, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for visiting us. Neither his busy schedule, nor the bad weather could stop him from fulfilling his promise to visit our country. This definitely seems to be Modi’s guarantee!” Prime Minister Modi was honored with Bhutan’s highest civilian honor ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’ on Friday. He is the first head of government of another country (outside Bhutan) to receive this honour. Modi also talked about the 13th five-year plan of the Bhutan government and said, “We will have our full support and cooperation.”
India will give Rs 10 thousand crore to Bhutan in 5 years
PM Modi said, “The Government of India will provide Rs 10,000 crore for this in the next five years.” He wrote about the meeting with his Bhutanese counterpart, “In Bhutan, had a fruitful conversation with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. We reviewed the entire gamut of India-Bhutan partnership, and agreed to deepen our development partnership and promote stronger cultural ties.” This was Modi’s second meeting this month with his Bhutanese counterpart. Tobgay visited New Delhi last week as part of his foreign visit after taking over as Prime Minister in January. (Language)
