Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday that the properties of landlords who deliberately sheltered terrorists would be attached. In a statement, police said, “misinformation and rumors have been spread by some persons regarding initiation of attachment of properties used by the Srinagar Police for the purpose of terrorism”.
“It is clarified that the Srinagar Police is well aware of the difference between deliberately harboring terrorists and under pressure,” the police said.
Police said that their properties are being attached where it has been proved beyond doubt that the owner or member of the house in most cases deliberately harbored terrorists for several days at a time and did not do so under any coercion. went.
Attachment action always takes place after the investigation procedures are in advanced stage in any case.
Police said, “Unknowingly, some people are trying to portray it as some kind of coercive enforcement, but it is a fact that Section 2(g) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 has been in vogue for decades. And these are not recent, as some people are spreading rumours.
“The decision with regard to the enforcement of these sections of the law is due to the fact that many supporters of terrorism are deliberately providing safe haven and safe haven to terrorists carrying out attacks on civilians and security forces in the city of Srinagar.”
The police further said that with regard to the issue of so-called ‘forceful entry’ of terrorists into any house or other structure, the owner of the house or any other member should inform the authorities in time.
“It is always on the owner/member of the house to inform the authorities well in time that terrorists have forcibly entered his house,” the police said.
“There is and will always be zero tolerance for terrorism and supporters of terrorism in a civilized society like ours,” the statement said.
