Bringing back students stuck in Ukraine more important than unfinished projects: Pawar
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar on Saturday said the work on the Metro service that Modi is about to inaugurate is still incomplete. Along with this, he described the work of bringing back Indian students from war-torn Ukraine as more important.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Pune on Sunday, where he will inaugurate the Metro service and other projects. “I agree that there are important projects in Pune, which are incomplete and the prime minister will inaugurate an important project, but it is more important to rescue the students stuck in Ukraine,” Pawar said. I think the ruling party should seriously think about it.
On the problems faced by Indian students, he said that the war between Russia and Ukraine is causing difficulties to many students. The former Union Minister said, I spoke to an Indian student trapped there. He told me that the Indian embassy has asked him to cross the border to Ukraine, which is six hours on foot from the place where the students are stuck. “The students are ready to walk, but the extreme cold, bombing and firing are the main reasons for their concern,” Pawar said.
