35-year-old Ashwin has reached the second place in terms of Indian bowlers taking the most wickets in Test cricket. Now only Anil Kumble’s name is ahead of him. Kumble has taken 619 wickets in 132 matches. Ashwin has now also entered the list of top 10 cricketers in terms of most Test wickets and has reached number nine.
Ashwin has taken five wickets in the first test match being played against Sri Lanka in Mohali. He took two wickets in the first innings and three wickets in the second innings. Ashwin’s name was recorded as soon as Charith Aslanka took the wicket. He also performed brilliantly with the bat in the match, scoring a half-century of 61 runs in the first innings.
