The Anti-Corruption Helpline, which started two days back in Punjab, has started showing its effect. On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered registration of a case against a woman clerk on the helpline after she received a complaint of corruption. Aam Aadmi Party leader Malvind Singh Kang gave this information.
The Punjab CM had launched the Anti-Corruption Helpline on March 23, in which people have also been given the facility to upload videos of officials seeking bribe or indulging in other malpractices. Kang said that the clerk was posted at the Tehsildar’s office in Jalandhar.
Official sources said that he demanded a bribe of Rs 4.80 lakh from the complainant to get the work done. Mann said in a tweet, “I have received a complaint on our anti-corruption helpline. The officials have been directed to conduct an immediate inquiry. Those seeking bribe will face dire consequences. Corruption will no longer be tolerated in Punjab.
