Chandigarh MP Kumari Selja said that the Punjab government of the Aam Aadmi Party is openly disregarding the directions of the Supreme Court by stopping the water of Haryana and the water agreements between the two states. Despite having a BJP government in both the state and the center, they are proving to be a complete failure to stop it. This is a clear proof of the administrative failure of the BJP government. If Haryana does not get its right water, then in this scorching heat, many districts of the state will have to face serious drinking water crisis. If the government does not take action in time, the Congress will fight against this injustice from the road to Parliament.
Kumari Selja said that the Punjab government has reduced 09 thousand cusecs of water to Haryana to 4000 thousand cusecs. In such a situation, the people of Haryana will have to face drinking water crisis. Haryana used to get 09 thousand cusecs of water from Bhakra Canal.
Kumari Selja said that in such a situation, there can be shortage of water in many districts including Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Rohtak, Mahendragarh. People will have to face drinking water and water scarcity for farmers’ crops.
The MP said that Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini should also talk to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, taking strict cognizance in this matter. The MP has demanded the central government to immediately intervene and get Haryana its legal and constitutional rights so that the people of the state can get relief from water shortage.
If the government does not take action in time, the Congress will fight against this injustice from the road to the Parliament. He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab keeps looking for some opportunity to fight Haryana and Punjab.
The MP said that in the peasant movement, the farmers of Punjab supported the farmers of Haryana shoulder to shoulder and today the farmers of Punjab should pressurize the Punjab government for the rights of the farmers of Haryana. The MP said that the Congress will fight for the rights of the farmers of the state from the road to the Parliament and the farmers will be given justice.
