India vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test 2022: Ravichandran Ashwin broke Kapil Dev’s record in the first Test match of the series against Sri Lanka in Mohali on Sunday. Ashwin has become India’s second highest wicket-taker in Tests. He has taken 435 wickets in his cricket career. While Kapil has 434 wickets in his name. Ashwin took the wicket of Pathum Nisanka in the second session of the third day. She is equal to Kapil Dev. He then took his 435th Test wicket after the tea break till the dismissal of Charit Aslanka.
Fourth Indian bowler to take more than 400 wickets
R Ashwin is the fourth Indian bowler to take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket. He became the 9th highest wicket-taker of all time in the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, surpassing New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee (431) and Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath (432). Ashwin is the third-highest wicket-taker amongst cricket Test cricketers behind England’s fast bowling duo Stuart Broad (537) and James Anderson (640).
