New Delhi. While traveling in trains, people traveling with confirmed tickets face problems when a passenger traveling with a second class ticket boards the train. The situation becomes worse especially during the festive season. Many times a passenger with a confirmed ticket does not even get a seat. To provide relief to the passengers from this problem, Indian Railways has launched a special campaign, which is benefiting the passengers as well as the Railways.
East Central Railway is keeping a close watch on passengers not traveling with proper tickets and a continuous campaign is being run to prevent this. So that passengers traveling with proper tickets (eg confirmed tickets) do not have to face any difficulties. Due to such passengers, on one hand the passengers traveling with proper tickets have to face problems, on the other hand there is also loss of railway revenue.
Trains will run from five stations being redeveloped this year including Bijwasan, Chandigarh, see if your station is in it.
Special ticket checking campaign is being run in stations and trains by forming separate teams of officers in all the five divisions of East Central Railway. Under the campaign, a total of 04 lakh 87 thousand 600 cases of irregular travel were detected from April 1 to May 14, from which revenue of about Rs 31 crore 55 lakh was received in the form of fine.
The company will also install ‘brooms’ in the train and will also give money to the Railways, isn’t it a wonderful idea?
During the investigation campaign, about 1 lakh 23 thousand people were caught without ticket/proper ticket (authorization) in Danapur division. Rs 7.67 crore revenue was collected as fine from these passengers. Similarly, a fine of Rs 07.32 crore was collected from 01 lakh 12 thousand people in Sonpur mandal, Rs 5.45 crore fine was collected from 86 thousand 500 people in Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay mandal. Whereas in Samastipur division, more than 01 lakh people were caught traveling without ticket/proper authorization, which resulted in an amount of Rs 7.46 crore and in Dhanbad division, an amount of Rs 3.69 crore was received from more than 65 thousand people as railway revenue.
