Delhi: Light to moderate rain forecast
Intermittent rain continues in Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rains will continue in the city. The Meteorological Department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle in the city for Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperature on Sunday is likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, the IMD said. The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average. While the minimum temperature was 25 degrees Celsius, which is two notches below the season’s average. At the same time, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning at different places in the next five days in Haryana, while Gurgaon will receive moderate to heavy rain on August 1.
How will be the weather in UP, Uttarakhand
Rain will continue in UP Uttarakhand as well. The weather agency has forecast that light to moderate rain may occur over northwest India on August 2. Apart from this, it will rain in western Uttar Pradesh on 1 and 2 August. Whereas, it will rain in Uttarakhand till August 2. There is a possibility of rain in East Uttar Pradesh till August 1.
Mumbai: Red alert for rain, schools and colleges closed
IMD has issued a red alert for rain for Mumbai. All schools and junior colleges in Mumbai up to class 12 are closed due to heavy rains already predicted in the state. The city has been reeling under rain ever since the onset of monsoon was announced on June 25. Mumbai has crossed the 2,000 mm rainfall mark in almost a month. The city recorded its first 1,000 mm rainfall on 21 July. Independent meteorologists called it the second-fastest 2,000 mm of rain ever recorded within 56 days. Earlier in 52 days, the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded 2,000 mm rainfall on July 22, 2021. As per the IMD forecast, light to moderate widespread rainfall will occur over Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on August 1 over West India.
Gujarat: Rain will continue
The rains will continue in Gujarat as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast said that light to moderate rain would continue over the state over the next few days. Light rain is predicted in the forecast for Ahmedabad. The state has received 75% of the average seasonal rainfall. Most of the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch have received average rainfall in the range of 75% to 100% this monsoon.
Odisha: Heavy to very heavy rain expected
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Odisha. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts during the next four days under the influence of a fresh low pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal coast. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding the rain. There is an orange warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in three districts – Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Dhenkanal – on Sunday. Apart from this, there is a yellow alert for heavy rain for 19 districts. These include Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Puri, Angul, Deogarh, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sonpur, Balangir, Boudh, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundergarh and Khurda. Sanjeev Dwivedi, scientist at the regional IMD center in the city, said conditions are quite favorable for rain activities to continue over the state for the next four to five days.
Heavy rains in Northeast including Assam
After the devastating floods in Assam, there is a warning of rain again in the northeastern states including Assam. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four days in the state from Sunday. IMD’s Regional Meteorological Center warned that there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in Assam on Sunday. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rains at different places in the state. Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Assam during next three days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rain from Chhattisgarh to South India
The IMD said that Chhattisgarh would receive very heavy rains on August 1 and 2. Whereas, East Madhya Pradesh will receive rain on August 1 and 2 and Vidarbha on August 1. Light to moderate rainfall is expected over West Bengal and Sikkim on Sunday, Jharkhand till August 1 and Bihar during July 31 to August 2, the IMD said. In South India, light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls is expected over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana on 1st and 2nd August while over South Interior Karnataka on 2nd August.
