In Jalore, there has been an incident of preventing a newly married Dalit couple from entering the temple and offering prayers. The police arrested Pujari after receiving the complaint. This incident happened on Saturday. When the couple was stopped at the door of the temple in Neelkanth village of Ahor subdivision. The couple also had a lot of arguments with the priest. When the priest did not budge, the victim’s family complained to the police. After this, the police registered a case under the SC-ST Act.
Jalore SP Harshvardhan Agarwal gave information about this. He said that a case has been registered against the priest and arrest has been made. According to the complaint, the procession of a person named Kuka Ram reached Neelkanth village on Saturday. The newly married couple went to the temple to offer coconut after marriage. According to the bride’s family member Tara Ram, the priest stopped everyone at the door of the temple and asked them to offer coconut outside. There was fierce opposition to this, but the priest stuck to his point.
According to Tara Ram, the priest said that since he belongs to the Dalit community, he will not allow him to enter the temple. Some villagers also came in favor of the priest and supported him saying that there is no point in arguing with the priest. According to Tara Ram, a lot of pleading was done to the priest, but he did not agree. After which a complaint was made to the police.
