It is difficult to understand against whom did Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hold a protest march in Kolkata? Whom did she demand to hang the murderers? She is the Chief Minister, the government is hers. The court had earlier said that her police tried to destroy evidence. The High Court said that what happened in the hospital on the night of August 14 was a failure of the state administration. The Chief Justice asked what the police was doing at that time, but the more the Kolkata Police Commissioner defends his police, the more he harms himself and Mamata Banerjee.
The commissioner did not think about the parents of the innocent girl who were made to stand for three hours to see the face of their daughter who was a victim of brutality. The justification of the police commissioner for the vandalism in the hospital is that the police tried to stop the mob and during this 15 policemen were also injured. When the policemen themselves are not able to protect themselves, then how will they assure the doctors of safety? That is why questions are being asked to Mamata Banerjee. Why did the commissioner not take action against the policemen who were negligent? And why was the commissioner who tried to give a clean chit to his police not dismissed immediately?
Mamata Banerjee is saying that Ram and the leftists are doing politics on this. I believe that there should be no politics on such a sensitive issue. Mamata Didi will have to be reminded that when the unfortunate incident happened in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, she had sent a delegation of her party. Actually, this is such a big country, there are governments of so many parties, in whose state an unfortunate incident happens, they start reminding of the incidents that happened during the rule of others. No one speaks about their own governments.
Actually, there is a mindset that boys are boys and they make mistakes. The second mindset is that it looks for the religion of the perpetrator. The third mindset is that this keeps happening. The truth is that we have not learnt anything from the gruesome murder of Nirbhaya. Neither the thinking has changed nor the system. Will the cruelty that happened to the daughter of Kolkata, the barbarity that happened to her, wake up the political parties? Instead of pointing fingers at each other, will they apply their minds to how to create fear in the hearts of rapists and murderers? Today the situation is such that the criminals are fearless and our daughters are scared. Before another such brutality happens, everyone will have to wake up from their sleep. (Rajat Sharma)
