New Delhi. In the election of Rajya Sabha seats to be held on June 10, interesting contest is going to be seen in three states of Haryana, Rajasthan and Karnataka. In all the three states, BJP has put thorns in the path of Congress. Because of this, Congress is facing a lot of difficulty in winning its candidate. The condition is that in Rajasthan, both the prestige of CM Ashok Gehlot and his chair are at stake. If a Congress candidate loses here, it may be difficult for Gehlot to save the CM’s chair. So one by one, let us tell you the electoral math of Rajya Sabha seats in these three states.
First let’s talk about Haryana. From here, media baron Kartikeya Sharma filed his nomination as an independent candidate yesterday. He is the son of former Congress leader Vinod Sharma. He has got the support of BJP and its ally JJP. Every candidate in the state needs 31 votes to win. BJP has 41 MLAs and JJP has 10 MLAs. Krishnalal Panwar is in fray from BJP. Congress has fielded Ajay Maken from here. He wants all the votes of Congress. If even a single MLA cross-voting, it will benefit Kartikeya and Ajay Maken will not be able to take out the seat. Similarly, in Rajasthan, another media mogul Subhash Chandra has filled the form of an independent with the support of BJP. Ghanshyam Tiwari is in the fray for BJP. Congress has fielded 3 candidates Mukul Wasnik, Randeep Surjewala and Pramod Tiwari. Another independent Manoj Kumar Joshi is also in the fray here. In Rajasthan with 200 MLAs, Congress with its 108 MLAs can win 2 and BJP with 71 MLAs can win 1 seat. After this Congress will have 26 votes and BJP 30 votes. If another 11 votes Subhash Chandra juggles with Congress and independent camp, he will win. In such a situation, a Congress candidate will not be able to win.
Now let’s talk about the mathematics of Karnataka. There are 4 Rajya Sabha seats in the state. From here BJP leader and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and actor Jaggesh are in the fray. Playing the game here too, BJP has fielded outgoing MLC Lahar Singh Siroya. Whereas, JDS has fielded D. Kupendra Reddy. Congress’s Jairam Ramesh and party’s general secretary in Karnataka Mansoor Ali Khan are in the fray. BJP can easily win 2 and Congress 1 seat here, but there is bound to be a contest on the fourth seat. Here too there are thorns in the path of Congress, as JDS and BJP candidates are in the fray. Obviously, the Congress is pushing hard, but it may have to work hard to remove the thorns that the BJP has entangled in the path.
