The crowd involved in the funeral prayers of Amir-e-Tabligi Jamaat Haji Ghulam in and around Idgah of Harmu Road became furious at 10.50 pm on Saturday night when stones were pelted from the surroundings. By the time the police showed promptness, the damage was done. The furious mob vandalized the PCR van parked there and several vehicles.
During this, a long queue of vehicles formed on the Harmu Road main road. In the midst of the commotion, sloganeering started from both the sides. Due to which an atmosphere of chaos prevailed near Gadikhana Chowk. Within no time various rumors started spreading in the air. After getting information about the incident, City SP Anshuman, City DSP Deepak, besides the station in-charge of Hindpiri, Jagannathpur, Daily Market reached the spot along with the force. Additional police force was also called from the city control room. Police officers pacified the angry mob by persuading them. Force has been deployed in and around Gadikhana as a precautionary measure.
The commotion continued for half an hour
The funeral procession of Amir-e-Tabligi Jamaat Haji Ghulam Sarwar of Jharkhand-Bihar reached Harmu Road Idgah on Saturday night at 10.50. Due to the large crowd in the funeral, people started offering Namaz on the Harmu Road main road outside the Idgah ground as well. At the same time, someone threw stones and bottles from the top of the Pollution Check Center building located at Gadikhana Chowk, which fell on some of the worshippers. After this the crowd involved in the funeral became furious. Several vehicles, including the PCR van parked there, were vandalized. Several nearby shops were also vandalized. The crowd created a ruckus for about half an hour.

Thousands of people attended the funeral of Amir-e-Tabligi Jamaat. Ranchi police had no idea of this. Due to this, sufficient number of police force was not deployed in Harmu Road and around Idgah. Apart from this, many other alternative arrangements were not made as a precautionary measure at the police level. When people reached there after taking funeral, then only Hindpiri SHO Vinay Kumar, Kotwali SHO Shailesh Kumar and Sukhdevnagar SHO Mamta Kumari were present. A number of policemen were present with them. Those who were not able to control the crowd in case of any untoward incident.
