New Delhi. On the strength of Sanju Samson’s captaincy innings and Jos Buttler’s explosive performance, Rajasthan Royals have achieved victory in the IPL. In the 19th match of IPL, Rajasthan defeated Royal Challenges Bangalore by 6 wickets and ‘Royals’ registered victory at the Sawaiman Singh Stadium. With this, Rajasthan team has reached the top in the points table with 8 points while KKR has slipped to second place with 6 points. This is RCB’s fourth defeat in 5 matches. Virat fought the fort alone
Virat Kohli, fighting the fort single-handedly, scored a record eighth century in the IPL, but the Royal Challengers Bangalore team could only score 183 runs for 3 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. Kohli made excellent pulls and flicks in his innings. He scored 113 runs in 72 balls and so far 38 percent of RCB’s total runs in the tournament have come from his bat. Kohli hit 12 fours and three sixes in his innings. Except captain Faf du Plessis (44 runs in 33 balls), he could not get support from the other end.
Kohli completed his century in 67 balls
Kohli completed his half-century in 39 balls and scored the next 50 runs in 28 balls. He touched the triple digit mark by taking one run off the ball of Nandre Berger in the 19th over. Glenn Maxwell (one) and debutant left-handed batsman Saurav Chauhan (nine) were out cheaply. Chauhan could not repeat the form of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. Royals spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal bowled economically in the middle overs. Ashwin gave 28 runs in four overs while Chahal took two wickets for 34 runs.
Virat- Duplessis added 125 runs
Giving RCB the best start in this season of IPL, Kohli and Du Plessis made a partnership of 125 runs for the first wicket. Both scored 53 runs in the powerplay. Ashwin gave only three runs in the fifth over. Kohli hit fast bowlers Trent Boult and Berger all around the field. Burger gave 26 runs in two overs of powerplay. Chahal controlled Kohli’s bat and gave only four runs in the eighth over.
Virat got life on the score of 66
Du Plessis hit two sixes on Boult in the ninth over while Kohli hit a six on former RCB teammate Chahal. Sanju Samson handed the ball to Riyan Parag in the 11th over, who troubled both the batsmen but could not take a wicket. He dropped the return catch of Du Plessis. Chahal broke this partnership and dismissed Duplessis in the 14th over. In the same over, Kohli got a lease of life at the score of 66 when Berger dropped his catch. Butler, however, caught Du Plessis at long on on the next ball.
