Today the party requested President Ram Nath Kovind to impose President’s rule in West Bengal. Congress says that there have been 26 political murders in Bengal last month.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury says that he will meet the President on this issue and demand action under Article 355. Under this, in case of disturbances, the Center can intervene in any province and take all the control by dismissing the government. He oversees the state in the name of the President. The Governor has all the executive powers during this period. On his instructions, the entire government staff takes decisions related to the interest of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed hope that the state government will definitely bring the culprits to justice. After inaugurating the newly constructed Vipulvi Bharat gallery at Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, she assured the state government that the central government would provide whatever help it wanted to bring the criminals to justice at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court today ordered the Delhi CFSL to conduct a forensic inquiry into the violence and arson that took place at Bogatui village in Birbhum district, killing eight people. The court directed the state government to file the report by 2 pm on Thursday. A bench of Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj will hear the matter tomorrow at 2 pm.
The Double Bench directed installation of CCTV at the spot in the presence of District Judge, East Bardhaman and to continue the recording till further orders. The bench also directed the Director General of Police of the state, in consultation with the District Judge of East Bardhaman, to ensure the safety of the witnesses and the minor boy who was injured in the arson. The court said that a suo motu petition has been registered for a fair investigation in the matter.
