Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may send former cricketer Harbhajan Singh to increase its strength in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament. It is being said that with a landslide victory in the Punjab Assembly elections, the party has also secured seats in the Rajya Sabha.
Hours after Bhagwant Mann, who entered politics from the world of stand-up comedy, was sworn in as Chief Minister on Wednesday (March 16, 2022), party sources said that the former cricketer is among the names the party has nominated for Parliament. Shortlisted for sending to the Upper House. However, there is no official confirmation about this at the moment.
By the way, at present, AAP has three seats in the Rajya Sabha. Not only this, apart from being nominated from the Rajya Sabha, Singh is also likely to be made the head of a proposed sports university in the state. The 41-year-old former spin bowler has had an illustrious career spanning almost 18 years in cricket. He has taken around 700 wickets in international cricket and he retired sometime back.
