After the formation of the BJP government in four of the five state assembly elections recently, the political situation in the country is witnessing rapid changes. Many leaders have started their own initiative to remove the split in various opposition parties including Congress. Former Union Minister Sharad Yadav, who was once among the top leaders of the Janata Dal family, had become politically isolated these days. Now he has again increased his activism and has announced that on the next 20 March he will merge his party Loktantrik Janata Dal with Rashtriya Janata Dal.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said, “There was a time when the Janata Dal alone had 143 seats in the Lok Sabha in the year 1989. The Janata Dal Parivar was instrumental in the formation of various governments in the past, especially after the implementation of the Mandal Commission recommendations. After this, there has been a lot of upliftment in the social and economic condition of the deprived sections in the country.
He has said that this is being done as part of his initiative to bring the scattered Janata Dal family back on one platform. Said that it has become necessary to do this in the interest of the country and the general public. In 2018, after an altercation with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav rebelled against the Janata Dal and formed a new party in the name of Loktantrik Janata Dal.
A few days back, he had a meeting with Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Shortly after this, former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav met him. Apart from this, his closeness with other RJD leaders has increased rapidly. In view of this, it was expected that he is going to do something new.
Senior leader Sharad Yadav, who has been ill for some time, is now rarely able to attend political meetings, but after the recent developments, it is expected that he will be active in politics again.
