One such case has come to light from Motihari in Bihar, which has shocked everyone. Upset over the delay in getting justice in his father’s murder, a 14-year-old son allegedly first set himself on fire and then jumped from the third floor of a residential building. He was rushed to a private clinic, where the boy died. The minor’s father Vipin Agarwal, an RTI activist, was shot dead in September last year.
According to reports, an RTI activist named Bipin Agarwal (47) was murdered on September 24, 2021, to expose the local land mafia. In this case, Rohit Agarwal, son of Bipin Aggarwal had gone to meet the SP Kumar Ashish of East Champaran, but despite all the efforts, he could not meet the SP.
In such a situation, the deceased RTI activist K Rohit had allegedly threatened in the SP office that he would commit suicide if the police did not assure him of arresting a local BJP leader in connection with the murder of his father. Rohit’s grandfather Vijay Aggarwal said, ‘He (Rohit) looked upset when he returned home. Before we could understand anything, he went to the third floor of the adjoining building, set himself on fire and jumped.
When Rohit took this dreadful step, he got stuck in high tension electric wires even before falling on the ground. Due to this Rohit’s body got very burnt, then immediately Rohit was admitted to a private clinic and he died during treatment on Friday. At the same time, Rohit’s grandfather Vijay Aggarwal accused the local Harsiddhi police that after the death of the grandson, the police was pressurizing him to get his statement done.
However, SP Kumar Ashish refuted Vijay Aggarwal’s allegations saying that ‘whatever has happened is unfortunate but the boy’s mother told us that he had fallen from a terrace on Thursday evening and came in contact with electric wires. After arrival, there was an electric current. We have not pressurized the family to change their statement.
On the murder of Bipin Agarwal, his father Vijay Aggarwal said that out of the 15 people against whom a case has been registered for the murder of his son, eight are still absconding. According to Rohit’s grandfather Vijay Aggarwal, the role of a local BJP leader, among others in the case, is under investigation. Whom the police are trying to save and their name is not in the FIR.
In fact, the deceased Bipin Agarwal had exposed through his RTI petitions that some people had occupied government land in Harsiddhi for many years. Some of these people had a political background. Before his death in September, Bipin was attacked once before, in which he narrowly escaped.
After Bipin’s death, his eldest 14-year-old son was protesting for justice. However, while talking about the matter, the SP has told the media that, “Police have arrested seven people in connection with the murder of RTI activist. We have now recommended to transfer the case to CID.”
