Lok Sabha Elections 2024: An atmosphere of celebration of democracy is going on. All political parties are busy preparing for the Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, before the first phase of elections in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has announced the names of its candidates on 22 seats. RJD released this list on 9 April. RJD has got 23 seats in the grand alliance, but announced the names of candidates only on 22 seats. One seat, Siwan, has been left out. In such a situation, the question is whether RJD has any plan regarding Siwan?
In the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Siwan Lok Sabha seat has gone to JDU, the party led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. JDU has fielded Vijay Lakshmi, who is the wife of former MLA Ramesh Kushwaha, from this seat. Presently Kavita Singh is MP from JDU. Kavita Singh is the wife of Bahubali Ajay Singh. Now RJD has to announce the name of its candidate from here. Only after this will it be clear who Vijay Lakshmi is going to compete with.
Ticket for Hina Shahab for the fourth time?
There is discussion in the political circles that RJD may once again give ticket to Hina Shahab from Siwan seat. Actually, RJD had decided to field former assembly speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary as its candidate from this seat. He was also given the green signal and started campaigning in the area, but when the list came out, his name was put on hold. It is being told that the reason for this is Hina Shahab, wife of Bahubali former MP Shahabuddin. Hina Shahab has announced to contest the elections as an independent candidate from Siwan. In such a situation, RJD has become helpless and is now trying to convince them.
Hina Shahab has contested elections from Siwan seat thrice on RJD ticket. Hina was defeated in all three Lok Sabha elections of 2009, 2014 and 2019. Now, with Hina Shahab contesting the elections as an independent, the battle of Siwan has become interesting. She has been engaged in public relations in the area for a long time. She is also continuously giving statements against RJD. Recently, a video of hers had also surfaced, in which she was seen saying that RJD has left her alone after the departure of her husband Shahabuddin. In such a situation, there is discussion inside that RJD can once again give ticket to Hina Shahab.
When did Siwan seat come into discussion?
Actually, Siwan was earlier a sub-division of Saran district. In 1972, Siwan district was separated from Saran. Jhulan Sinha became MP from Siwan for the first time in 1957. This seat came into limelight when Shahabuddin became MP from here. Shahabuddin was MP from Siwan four times. Shahabuddin died of Corona in 2021. During this time he was serving his sentence in Tihar Jail, Delhi. After his conviction in a criminal case in 2009, the Election Commission had banned Shahabuddin from contesting elections. When Shahabuddin was banned from contesting elections, his wife Hina Shahab entered the fray. For the first time in 2009, Hina Shahab contested elections on RJD ticket.
RJD gave 3 seats to Sahani
It is noteworthy that there are 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. RJD got maximum 26 seats. However, after coming together with Mukesh Sahni, RJD has given three seats to his party – Gopalganj, Jhanjharpur and Motihari. At the same time, Congress has been given 9 seats. Left will field its candidates on 5 seats.
