Disgruntled BJP leader and MP Varun Gandhi met Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. There is a lot of speculation about this meeting which lasted for three hours. Varun Gandhi, the son of Bharatiya Janata Party MP and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, has remained the darling of the opposition for some time by raising his voice against his own government. On many issues, he has also made headlines in the media by giving rhetoric against the government. It is being told that Sanjay Raut had invited Varun Gandhi to his residence for dinner.
According to media sources, there have been discussions between the two leaders regarding the recent elections and the re-election of BJP in four states including UP. Along with this, both the leaders talked among themselves on issues like recent developments, Bengal violence, opposition unity.
The Shiv Sena, which was an ally of the BJP for more than two decades before 2019, parted ways in the last assembly elections in Maharashtra following differences over government formation. Since then Shiv Sena has been attacking the BJP on various issues. Shiv Sena, breaking away from its fanatical Hindutva attitude, formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government under the leadership of its leader Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra with Congress and NCP and has become vocal against the BJP at the national level.
Here, Varun Gandhi was earlier counted as a young and sharp leader in the BJP. He was also made the youngest general secretary of the party in 2013. Later he was made in-charge of a state like West Bengal. But in the last few years, his stand has become troublesome for the party itself. Sometimes they attack the BJP leadership by calling the Center anti-farmer and sometimes they start shouting agitation against their party for the uproar in Lakhipur Kheri.
He also keeps making statements publicly against the policies of PM Modi. Due to his rhetoric and anti-BJP attitude, party president JP Nadda had given a strong message in October 2021, expelling Varun Gandhi and his mother Maneka Gandhi from his team. Meanwhile, no statement has been issued regarding what discussions took place in his meeting with Sanjay Raut and on what issues the two leaders discussed among themselves.
