A court has issued a non-bailable warrant against the late Sadanand Singh, a senior Congress leader in Bihar. Even after the matter came to light, the local police did not inform the court about it. This negligence of Ishipur Barahat Police is being discussed everywhere. Late Sadanand Singh has contested 12 times from Kahalgaon assembly seat of Bhagalpur, out of which he has won 9 times. He holds the record for winning the most number of assembly elections in his name. In 2015, he was able to save his seat despite the poor performance of the Congress. In his time, he was counted among the prominent leaders of the Congress party. He died on 8 September 2021.
In 2009, in a case related to violation of model code of conduct, Sadanand Singh, former minister Shakuni Chaudhary, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Deepnarayan Paswan, Deeptendra Varnwal etc. were made accused in Ishipur Barahat police station. In the case on April 14, 2010, the investigating assistant sub-inspector Mahendra Prasad Singh, posted at Ishipur-Barahat police station, had filed a charge sheet in the court.
The non-bailable warrant has been issued by the court of MP-MLA Court ACJM-I Prabal Dutta. Apart from Sadanand Singh, Deepnarayan Paswan and Deeptendra Varnwal are also accused in this case. The witnesses in the case had already given their testimony. In the absence of the leaders, the court canceled the bond and issued a non-bailable warrant against them.
Sadanand Singh was also the Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2000 to 2005. He was also the President of District Congress Committee, Bhagalpur from 1990 to 1993. He has also been the President, Vice President of Bihar Pradesh Committee. He has been the leader of the Congress Legislature Party for almost 10 years. Sadanand Singh has been the Minister of State for Irrigation and Energy in the Government of Bihar.
In 1969, he became an MLA for the first time on a Congress ticket. Congress cut his ticket in 1985, after which he contested as an independent and won. Sadanand had to face defeat in the 1990 and 1995 elections to the Janata Dal and in 2005 to the JDU candidate.
