Delhi Police has arrested a man for allegedly duping people of lakhs in the name of air ambulance service. Police said that his girlfriend is a co-accused in this case, who is absconding. According to police officials, the accused have been identified as Navdeep and Prabhdeep Kaur.
According to police officials, a complainant had approached Shahdara District Cyber Police Station on February 5. The complainant had told that he was cheated of Rs 4.24 lakh by an air ambulance website. Complainant Manu Arora told that he had booked for air ambulance service from Guwahati to Hyderabad.
Manu Arora alleged that when he had paid the amount fixed for the service, the accused refused to refund the amount on the pretext of cancellation of the flight. According to the complainant Manu Arora, the accused later stopped answering his calls when he pressed her. Police registered an FIR in this case under section 420 (cheating).
A senior police officer said that during the investigation, we checked the details including the domain name and bank account of the website. After this investigation it was found that the fraud was committed by Navdeep and his girlfriend Prabhdeep. After this, raids were conducted in Delhi in search of the accused and Navdeep was caught and interrogated. The revelations of accused Navdeep shocked everyone.
The officer said that the accused disclosed that he along with his girlfriend cheated around Rs 20-25 lakh from at least 10-15 people in the last four-five years and distributed the money amongst themselves, the official said. During police interrogation, accused Navdeep told that he had named his parents as directors of the alleged company to avoid legal liabilities.
The police officer said that Navdeep was arrested shortly after the raid. Police said they have recovered two mobile phones and two ATM cards, which are used in the crime, from his possession. Navdeep will be sent to one-day police custody to trace co-accused Prabhdeep Kaur, the official said.
