Congress is considering itself as a winner in Goa elections. This is the reason that even before the counting of votes, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar has sought an appointment with the Governor. He said that Congress is getting majority in Goa. For everything to go well, he wants to meet the governor and make everything clear. He says that the Congress is going to form the government on its own in Goa.
Goa is witnessing a direct fight between the Congress and the BJP amid the presence of AAP and Trinamool. The BJP has contested all the 40 seats in the state. The Congress has contested the elections in alliance with the Goa Forward Party. Mamata’s Trinamool has forged an alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.
The exit polls have spoken of a one-off fight between the BJP and the Congress-led alliance. In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress emerged as the single largest party by winning 17 seats. But the government was formed by the BJP. Seeing the horse trading of BJP, this time Congress has asked its MLAs to stay in Margao hotel. Other parties are also taking precautions in this matter.
There are speculations that the Congress leaders in Goa are in touch with the state leaders of Trinamool and Aam Aadmi Party. So that the BJP can be prevented from returning to power in the state. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram held a meeting with the Goa Forward Party on Wednesday to take stock of the situation. He says that a post-poll alliance is being considered to stop the BJP.
On the other hand, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed confidence of forming the BJP government in the state. He says people have reposed faith in his government. He is very sure that BJP is going to form the government on its own. They say that the magic of PM Modi is speaking over the heads of the people. There is no match to the popularity of BJP.
