In the money laundering case, the ED is now seen reaching the family of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. On Tuesday, the ED raided companies linked to Shridhar Patankar, brother-in-law of CM Thackeray. In this raid, properties worth 6.45 crores have been seized.
Giving information on Tuesday, ED officials said that properties worth crores of Sridhar Patankar have been seized. In which 11 flats are included. Further action after the raid is on. The agency said in a statement that it has issued a provisional order to “seize” 11 residential flats in the Nilambari project of Sri Sai Baba Grihini Samiti Pvt Ltd located in Thane near Mumbai. To seize an asset means that it cannot be transferred, altered or transferred.
The ED’s move comes two weeks after the Income Tax department raided people linked to the CM’s son Aaditya Thackeray, a minister and aide Anil Parab. After the raid on the close relative of CM, once again the politics of Maharashtra has heated up. Shiv Sena has termed it as political vendetta.
The Nationalist Congress Party, which is part of the Maharashtra government, has also supported Shiv Sena regarding this raid. NCP President Sharad Pawar has said that central agencies are being misused for political interests. He said that till few years back most of the people did not know about ED, but today it is being misused so much that even the people of the villages know about it.
