After the Karnataka Hijab controversy, now a case of a Muslim girl wearing a hijab in a university in Madhya Pradesh and offering Namaz in the class room has come to the fore. A video of a Muslim student offering Namaz in Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University of Sagar is going viral on social media. After the objection of Hindu organizations in this matter, the university administration has started investigation.
A memorandum was submitted by Hindu Jagran Manch to the university demanding action after a video surfaced of a Muslim girl offering Namaz in her classroom. University registrar Santosh Sehgaura said that a complaint has been received with the video clip and a five-member committee has been formed to probe it. He said that this committee will investigate the matter and submit its report within three days, on the basis of which action will be taken.
Order of inquiry after complaint
On the other hand, when a girl student offered Namaz in the university, Vice-Chancellor Neelima Gupta said, “We have formed a committee which will put the facts of the matter. The students have been instructed to do all the religious work at their place of residence or shrine only so that there is an atmosphere of study in the university.
University’s media officer Vivek Jaiswal said there is no formal dress code prescribed for students on the campus of the educational institution, but students are required to wear ethical uniforms. At the same time, Hindu Jagran Manch’s Sagar unit president Umesh Saraf said that the girl seen in the video has been coming wearing a hijab for a long time.
He said, “Such religious activities should not be allowed in educational institutions. She was wearing a hijab for a long time but on Friday afternoon she was seen offering prayers inside the class. This is objectionable. A complaint has been lodged with the VC and Registrar of the university in this matter. During this, Saraf also referred to the decision of the Karnataka High Court.
