Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma was arrested by Delhi Police last month. He was arrested under IPC section 279 (speeding and negligent driving) and later released on bail. The incident took place on February 22 and an FIR was lodged in this regard by constable Deepak Kumar, driver of DCP (South) Benita Marie Jacker.
According to the FIR, the vehicle of the DCP (South District) was hit by a Jaguar Land Rover, which was allegedly being driven by the Paytm CEO, outside The Mother’s International School on Aurobindo Marg in Delhi.
Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa confirmed that the police had “arrested Sharma (Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma) and was released on bail.” At the same time, DCP Jacker has refused to comment on the matter. Whereas when contacted, constable Deepak Kumar said that he was posted with DCP (jacker) and took his car to a petrol pump around 8 am.
