Pune’s Varje police has uncovered a case of looting of jewelery worth crores in a jewelery store. The robbery took place on March 25 between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. In this, the robbers stole gold and silver jewelery worth about 1.23 crores. Now the Warje police have detained two people in this case. In the case of robbery, the owner of the jewelery store of Karvenagar had lodged a complaint with the police.
Giving information, Senior Inspector of Warje Police, Shankar Khatke said that the robbers had taken the shop next to the jewelery store on rent five days before the incident. He then drilled a hole in the back wall of the jewelery store with a drill machine. The owner of the jewelery store did not even suspect that because the shop had been raised on rent a few days back. In such a situation, he felt that repair work might be going on.
Senior Inspector Shankar Khatke said that earlier there was a bakery shop next to the jewelery store. Its shopkeeper had recently vacated the shop and it was later rented out by the robbers. According to the police, Anandkumar Chunilal Verma, owner of a jewelery store in Karvenagar, opens the store around 9.30 am and goes home between 2 and 2.30 am after having lunch.
According to Senior Inspector Khatke, the owner of the jewelery store went home in the afternoon even on the day of the incident and when he opened the shop at 4 pm, the goods were scattered and the ornaments were missing. However, the incident of theft has been recorded in the CCTV camera installed inside the jewelery store. In which the robbers entered the shop by breaking into the common wall of two shops. On reaching the information, the police investigated and found nothing.
According to the police, two robbers entered the jewelery store through a hole made in the common wall of the shops and took away all the items. Then these robbers put all the goods in the tempo standing on the other side of the shop and fled. In the matter, the police said that it is still being investigated on what basis these two people had rented the shop from the owner. However, the two detained people have not yet shared anything specific.
