Some anti-social elements vandalized the idol at a Shiva temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahalolpur village on Sunday night. This information came on Monday morning when the priest and other people had come to worship. On the information of the demolition of the idol of the temple, the surrounding villagers gathered and a commotion started. After this, the police officers reached the spot and pacified the people. At the same time, the administration broke the illegal meat shops located around the temple by running a bulldozer. However, the police registered a case on the complaint of the villagers and started investigation.
This whole matter is related to Shiv temple of Bahalolpur village under Kotwali Sector-63 of Noida. After worshiping in the night on Sunday, the priest went home. Then when he reached the temple on Monday morning, the idol of the temple was found broken and blood stains were seen on the floor. When the priest informed the villagers about this, the commotion started. On the information of the incident, DCP Harish Chander reached the spot and pacified everyone.
DCP Harish Chander said that the idol of the temple was found in a broken state and blood stains were also seen. He said that during the incident, the accused must have been hurt by the mirror installed on the temple door. According to the preliminary investigation, this blood is of a person only. Four teams of police are involved in the investigation and the CCTV footage in and around the temple is being scrutinised. Police officials have claimed to have arrested the accused soon.
Regarding the incident, the villagers allege that the sabotage has been carried out by taking the priest hostage. However, DCP Harish Chander said that the talk of Pujari being held hostage is wrong. At the same time, there are many illegal meat shops around the temple, which the villagers had been demanding for a long time to be closed. On this, the police informed the concerned department and the authority took action and started bulldozers on the illegal meat shops in the vicinity.
According to the administration, around 25 illegal shops were operating around the temple premises, whose demand to remove them was raised rapidly after Sunday’s incident. After this incident in the temple, many types of videos were going viral on social media, after which the police shared the information about the incident and appealed for peace. However, now several organizations like Bajrang Dal have said that the idol will be installed after the entire complex is washed with Ganga water.
