Ahead of the election results, with the exit poll results, all the parties have started discussing their strategy regarding the possible situation. In which state the leaders of political parties and their strategists have become active along with the general public on which party is going ahead and who is lagging behind. Party strategist Kailash Vijayvargiya reached Dehradun even before the results of the Uttarakhand assembly elections were announced. When asked, he said that it was his personal visit.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on the other hand, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday, a day after he projected a fractured mandate in the state. Sawant exuded confidence of winning the assembly elections and forming the next government in the state with the help of regional parties.
BJP strategist Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday met former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank at his residence. He also met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and State BJP President Madan Kaushik. Apart from this, Vijayvargiya will also have an important meeting with the party in-charge of Uttarakhand affairs, Prahlad Joshi and other leaders. The political implications of Vijayvargiya’s arrival in the state are being worked out even before the election results and the increasing round of meetings and discussions among the leaders is trying to figure out the formula to garner majority in case the BJP stays away from the magic figure of 36 seats. It is believed.
If the election results reveal a fractured mandate and neither of the major political parties, the Congress and the BJP, get a clear majority, the role of independents and ‘MLAs’ from BSP, SP and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal in forming the government will become crucial. Vijayvargiya is believed to have played an important role in the rebellion of Congress MLAs against the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat in the year 2016 and now his arrival is being seen from this perspective.
On the other hand, in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has started planning a strategy by meeting PM Modi to discuss the possible situation on his behalf. Along with the main parties like Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress in the state, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress also fielded their candidates. This is the first assembly election in the state after the death of BJP stalwart and four-time Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
In the 2017 elections, the Congress emerged as the single largest party winning 17 seats, but was thrown out of power by the BJP with the support of regional parties. In the 2022 elections, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party joined hands with the Trinamool Congress, while the Goa Forward Party formed a pre-poll alliance with the Congress.
The ruling BJP and the opposition Congress are claiming that they will get the majority figure. At the same time, both the parties have also said that they will seek support from Deepak Dhavalikar-led Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) in case of shortfall in seats.
