Reliance Jio has become the largest mobile operator not only in India but in the world. In 2016, Jio started its telecom service in India. In the last 8 years the company has created crores of users. At present Jio has more than 48 crore users. Mobile operators offering benefits like cheap data packs and unlimited calling have become famous all over the world. Jio has left behind China’s leading mobile operator China Mobile.
Number-1 in this matter
As of March 2024, Jio had 481.8 million or 48.18 crore users, out of which 108 million or 10.8 crore are 5G users. The company provides 4G and 5G services in India. Jio has True 5G SA network, in which internet speed up to 1Gbps is being offered to the users. According to Reliance Jio’s quarterly report released recently, Jio has become the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of data traffic.
According to the report, Jio has left China Mobile behind in terms of data traffic. The total data traffic of Jio network is 40.9 Exabytes, which has seen a growth of 35.2 percent year-on-year. This tremendous increase in data traffic has been seen due to the rapidly increasing 5G and home service adoption. At present, 28 percent of Jio’s total subscriber base are 5G subscribers. Apart from this, this increase in data traffic has also been seen due to Jio’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service.
India users are spending a lot of data
India has seen a 2.4-fold increase in annual internet data consumption since COVID-19. Three years ago, the average monthly data consumption of Indian users was 13.3GB, which has now increased to 28.7GB i.e. an average Indian user consumes about 29GB of data in a month. Jio is currently providing fixed broadband service along with mobile service in India. Internet service is being provided to homes through JioFiber and JioAirFiber.
