New Delhi. In the administration of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, non-IPS officers have been given the responsibility of IPS officers. Opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari claimed on his handle that non-IPS officers hold elite posts in the IPS cadre. They should be removed. Trinamool’s counter complaint is that a top political leader is spreading misinformation on social media. Trinamool Congress demanded that the post posted by Subhendu Adhikari be removed immediately.
Shubhendu Adhikari said, “Police posts are being misused. I would urge the Election Commission to not only deploy officials from other states on the day of polling, but now, if necessary, deploy police to restore the rule of law in this state.” Meanwhile, the state police has already claimed that these allegations are baseless. State police officers hold certain posts as per the rules of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Controversy started due to allegations of Shubhendu Adhikari
It is noteworthy that some of these officers are on the post of Superintendent of Police and some are in CID. According to sources, necessary instructions have already been given by the Commission to the nodal officer responsible for investigating the complaint of Shubhendu Adhikari. In this regard, the Commission has changed the DIG of the state police even before the elections. WBCS has removed four district commissioners. Four IAS officers have been given their posts by the Election Commission. After the order of transfer of four District Commissioners, WBCS Officers Association has also sent a letter to the Commission. The association said that they have worked efficiently in different areas of various elections in the past.

TMC rejected Shubhendu’s allegations
Shubhendu Adhikari wrote on his handle that not all WBCS officers are bad. The Commission should not oversimplify the conflict between IAS and WBCS. ‘Daldas’, along with praising some WBCS officers, also demanded the removal of the IAS. According to Shubhendu Adhikari, some WBCS officers are more skilled than IAS officers.
