A great example of which EVs are now turning to luxury by leapfrogging from the hatchback and SUV segments is Rolls-Royce, the electric car that was recently spotted testing. Looks like the Goodwood based luxury brand has decided to convert its future models into EVs. In which the Rolls-Royce Specter Coupe is the first electric model of the brand which can be launched in late 2023.
Pictures of the first-ever testing of the Rolls-Royce Specter Coupe have surfaced on the Internet, leaving no specific information other than just the design of the upcoming coupe. British luxury car maker Rolls-Royce announced its first all-electric vehicle in September this year, and now the testing mule has been spotted in Germany.
Spy shot update on the design
The upcoming Rolls-Royce EV will be a two-door coupe with a silhouette similar to the company’s Wraith. The front design features the brand’s signature grille, and the headlamps get a split design, which includes LED DRLs at the top and the main headlamps below. If reports are to be believed, the Rolls-Royce Specter will be based on a scalable aluminum spaceframe that also underpins the Phantom, Ghost and Cullinan. This platform has been changed in terms of electric powertrain.
Specter will be the company’s first electric model
The Rolls-Royce EV is expected to include two electric motors that will power around 600 PS. Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Otvos has confirmed that the carmaker will completely electrify its lineup by 2030, and the Specter will be the first model of the EV.
However, this is not the first time that Rolls-Royce has shown its intention to switch to electric cars. In 2011, Rolls-Royce introduced the first electric concept based on the Phantom. In 2016, Rolls-Royce showcased a concept car called the Vision Next 100, which was fully electric.
