new Delhi. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that his country’s aim in Ukraine is to deny the Kyiv regime the ability to present any threat to Moscow. Jaishankar, in which issues like crude oil offer, rupee-ruble payment, ongoing arms deal and Ukraine crisis were discussed.
He will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening before leaving for Moscow.

During the meeting, Lavrov and Jaishankar assessed the overall state of cooperation and considered the impact of recent developments on trade and economic ties.
The two ministers discussed developments related to Ukraine.
Lavrov briefed the Indian side from Russia’s point of view, including peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.
Jaishankar emphasized the importance of ending violence and ending hostilities. Differences and disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and with respect to international law, the United Nations Charter, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
The ministers also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, during which Lavrov conveyed his assessment of the recent conference on Kabul in China.
Jaishankar noted that UNSCR 2593 expressed the concerns of the international community and spoke of humanitarian support for the Afghan people. The issue of Iran and the 2015 nuclear deal was also included in the talks.
