Moscow: Even after two years of Russia-Ukraine war, no result has been achieved. Thousands of soldiers of both the countries have been killed in the war and a large number have also become disabled. There seems to be no end to this bloody conflict. But now Russia has brought a draft which can bring peace in the war. But will Ukrainian President Zelensky agree to the Russian draft? Can both the countries find a solution to the war on the basis of this draft? This is what Russia has to say at the moment. Moscow said on Friday that a draft Russia-Ukraine agreement could be the basis for possible talks between the two countries to end the conflict, discussed in 2022.
Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the draft document discussed in Istanbul in March 2022 could become the basis for starting negotiations. He said that it will be necessary to take new realities into consideration in possible future talks. “Many changes have taken place since then, new things have been added to our constitution,” Peskov said in a video conference call with reporters. Russia had annexed four Ukrainian regions in September 2022 and its move was criticized by Kiev. And its Western allies rejected it as illegal.
Putin said Moscow will not accept forcibly implemented peace plan
Ahead of Peskov’s statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday weighed in on possible Ukraine peace talks hosted by Switzerland in June, warning that Moscow would not accept a forcibly imposed peace plan. “We are ready for positive action, but will not accept any efforts that are not based on realities,” Putin said in a meeting in Moscow with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace proposal has been rejected under which Moscow would have to withdraw its troops. (AP)
