Around 16,000 people from around the world have written and applied for volunteers to fight in Ukrainian embassies, including two former Indian Navy officers. On the other hand, another Indian student of Tamil Nadu origin has already taken up arms to fight against Russia while living in Ukraine.
According to sources, these letters are being sent to the Defense Attaché of Ukraine by two ex-servicemen of India. In a letter, an officer made an application, describing himself as an ex-serviceman with 23 years of mechanical systems experience in the Navy. He wants to join the Ukrainian army immediately. Another former officer also wrote a similar letter. After writing the letter, these officers met the Ukrainian official, where their passports, documents of experience and other things and names, addresses, phone numbers etc. were recorded. The Ukrainian government has yet to formally agree to accept their request.
