Russia’s action unjustified without cause: Warne
Australia’s legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne has called Russia’s action on Ukraine completely unwarranted and unfair. Warne tweeted, “The whole world stands with the people of Ukraine as they fell victim to unprovoked and unjustified attacks by Russian military forces.” The pictures are appalling and I can’t believe nothing is being done to stop it. Lots of love to my Ukrainian partner Andrey Shvchenko.
It is necessary to maintain peace and humanity: Bubka
Pole vault veteran Sergei Bubka of Ukraine has praised the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) move against Russia’s military action. The IOC has expressed support for Ukraine and has approached its National Olympic Committee for cooperation.
1988 Olympic champion Bubka, 58, has won world titles for the Soviet Union. He is now the Vice President of the World Athletics Federation and the head of the Olympic Committee of Ukraine, in addition to being a member of the IOC. Bubka said thank you to the IOC and around the world for the messages of support and cooperation. Ukraine will be grateful for this stand of the IOC. The war must stop, peace and humanity must prevail.
Since the Champions League final on May 28, Russia’s attack on Ukraine has led to the cancellation or relocation of several F1 races and events. The International Olympic Committee is also not in favor of sporting events in Russia and Belarus in these circumstances. The European Olympic Committee also sided with the IOC.
