Narsinghpur, Naiduniya Rep. We have been in constant effort to return to our homeland since the start of the Russo-Ukraine War. For this, he was constantly in touch with the officials of the Indian Embassy in Romania. But, keeping in view the safety of the students, the officials kept advising them to stay in Ukraine. Finally, on 26 February, 40 of us students hired a bus to reach the Romanian border, 700 km from Odessa city in Ukraine, spending about 10 lakh rupees. Ultimately our decision was right. As the bus left Odessa, half an hour later the Russian army fired missiles at the city. Which caused great destruction. Thankfully, our bus had poster-banners of the Indian flag and tricolor. Seeing this, the Russian Army continued to allow us to move forward with respect.
Dr. Priyanshu Gautam, a resident of Amgaon Bada of Kareli tehsil, who returned home from Ukraine, narrated these experiences.
Dr. Priyanshu, who landed at New Delhi International Airport via Romania on Tuesday night at around 10 pm, is currently in Delhi. Here he was received by the officials of the MP government. On Wednesday, he was also given an air ticket to Jabalpur, but he did not come due to the work of the Medical Council. Priyanshu will reach Kareli railway station on Friday morning after starting his journey by Shridham train on Thursday.
Eat only biscuits for 26 hours in the shadow of death: While discussing the mobile, Dr. Priyanshu Gautam told that on the morning of 26 February, he along with his other 39 companions hired a bus. On an average a student paid Rs.14-14 thousand as rent. During his journey from Odessa city of Ukraine to Romania border, he had put up tricolor posters in his bus. As soon as the bus left Odessa, the missile of the Russian Army was fired. The 700 km journey was 26 hours. During this, he had only biscuits in the name of food and drink. Priyanshu says that during the entire journey, the Russian army checked the bus at many places, seeing the tricolor, let them go ahead without any problem. At many places, even the bus was not stopped after seeing the tricolor. During this, the soldiers of the Russian-Ukrainian Army kept firing everywhere with corpses, explosions, guns. Amidst the shadow of death, somehow they reached the border of Romania on 27 February. The bus was not allowed beyond this. The distance from here to the refugee camp was about 20 km. After which all the students walked on foot carrying goods of 15 to 20 km. On reaching the camp, here already about 3000 students were seen queuing in minus 3 degree Celsius. He too spent a few hours standing in line. On contacting the Indian Embassy officials, they got hotel and free flight facilities. After which they could return to their homeland.
Ukraine-Romania found a lot of love: According to Dr. Priyanshu Gautam, he got a lot of love in Ukraine and Romania. When he was leaving Ukraine, his hostel warden did not even charge him rent. Hope to meet again with the wish of all the students to reach home safely. Many of their belongings are also in the hostel itself. The warden has told them that when they return, the goods will be safe. Priyanshu tells that when he was doing bus on rent, the team of students did not have enough money. In such a situation, Ukrainian citizens, acquaintances helped him. Even after reaching Romania, he was given a lot of love by the local people.
