Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday. It has been told that the talk between the two lasted for about 35 minutes on the phone. During this, PM Modi thanked Zelensky for the safe evacuation of Indians from Ukraine. The PM also discussed with Zelensky about the ongoing war with Russia. It is told that he talked about the operation to rescue the Indians trapped in Sumy, Ukraine. Significantly, at present, more than 500 Indians are trapped in Sumi.
Earlier, there was talk between the two leaders on 26 February as well.
Earlier on 26 February also talks were held between Ukrainian President Zelensky and PM Modi regarding the war crisis. Zelensky had demanded political support of India during this period. At that time the President of Ukraine had briefed Prime Minister Modi in detail about the ongoing conflict situation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister had expressed deep condolences on the loss of life and property due to the ongoing conflict. PM Modi reiterated his call for dialogue and an immediate end to the violence and expressed India’s willingness to contribute in every way possible for peace efforts. The Prime Minister also conveyed to him (President of Ukraine) India’s deep concern for the safety of Indian citizens, including students present in Ukraine. He also sought the facilitation by the Ukrainian authorities for the speedy evacuation of Indian nationals.
PM Modi will also talk to Russian President Putin
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin at 1.30 pm. During the conversation, PM Modi will put up with Putin the issue of averting the war crisis and the evacuation of Indian students.
