According to Major General Kyrlo Budanov, Chief of Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, “The failed assassination attempt took place in the Caucasus (the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea). He said that this effort took place soon after Russia’s attack on Ukraine on 24 February 2022. General Kyrlo spoke to the Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda about the incident. He told that this incident happened about 2 months ago. However, the claim of General Budanov could not be verified.
