Russia-Ukraine War: Priyank Sharma, Gwalior, Naiduniya. More than 690 Indian students, including two Gwalior students Piyush Saxena and Alisha Khan, have been evacuated somehow via Poland after being stuck in Sumi for 13 days. These students will come back to Gwalior by this evening. After a long wait of a fortnight, these students will meet their families. Piyush Saxena reached the airport in Delhi on Friday morning by a flight from Poland last night. Exactly an hour later, Alisha Khan also reached Delhi by another flight. Their families had reached Delhi last day to pick up these two students. Piyush Saxena will reach Gwalior by Jhelum Express at 4.30 pm and Alisha Khan by road.
10 students who had gone from the city to study MBBS and tourism in Ukraine have returned so far. These students were stranded in Ukraine’s cities like Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Ternopil and crossed the borders of countries like Romania, Poland, Hungary and returned to India by Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster planes. Despite this, these two students were the ones whose relatives had constant worry lines on their foreheads, as they were trapped in the Ukrainian city of Sumi amid Russian attacks. Due to the war, he was hiding in the bunkers for 13 days. From shortage of food and drink to these students, even water for daily use was not being provided. These students had to use melting snow. The only way out for these students was to enter the Russian border. Although most of the students who went from Gwalior to Ukraine to study Poland, Romania and Hungary have crossed the border and returned to India, but for the students trapped in Sumi, this border was 600 to 800 km away. After talking to the government of Ukraine and Russia, the Indian Embassy safely took these students to Poland, from where they have now reached Delhi.
